Irish Beauty Show Haul

Wednesday, 11 March 2015

On Sunday I ventured up to the RDS in Dublin for the Irish Beauty Show 2015. I was really excited about it as I'd heard some great things in the couple months leading up to it. The show certainly did not disappoint. There was amazing deals on all the stands, and I'm actually kind of sad I didn't pick up more!
The First thing I bought was 'The Nima Mitt'. Nima is a relatively new Irish brand, and the girls at stand were so nice and helpful. This was only €5 and claims to remove even the most long wearing makeup. I'm very excited to give this a go and you can expect a review on it in the very near future.

Next I made my way over to the Blank Canvas stand which, as the day went on, got more and more difficult to get anywhere near. It was swarmed with people. As I was deciding which brush I wanted, I met the lovely Sinead Cady, from 'The Makeup Chair. She was so incredibly lovely to chat to! I picked up the E34 brush which is very soft and I'm very excited to use.

Like Blank Canvas, Fuchsia was incredibly hard to get anywhere near as it was constantly packed with people. I found the girls on the stand perfectly lovely, even though they were run off their feet. They had some really great deals going, I bought this pot of Gel Liner for just €2, and this setting spray for €8. I mainly bought the setting spray as I wanted to find a Dupe for the Urban Decay Setting spray. I did try the setting spray and It didn't exactly give an even spray, but that could just be an issue with the first couple of uses.

Were you there? What did you pick up?

Review : Sleek Brow Kit

Saturday, 7 February 2015

If you saw my last post, you'll see that I bought this not too long ago. Its the second lights shade in the range, which I think is a bit of a let down. The only lighter shade than this is one for blonde brows which is great but this was actually a tiny bit dark for me. I would have liked maybe half a shade lighter.

As the packaging, its very standard Sleek packaging. The only thing I find annoying is the tiny little brushes & tweezers. They're basically unusable because they are so small.

When I first used the used the wax, it took some getting used to because i'm so used to using powders. You need to have a very light hand when applying this or it can look very very dodgy. Once I had done the wax I set it with the powder which I actually quite liked.

Is this going to dramatically change the way I do my brows? definitely not. Do I hate it? no. Its just not spectacular. I would say its worth checking out if you're on the market for some budget brow stuff. If you're interested in my brow routine its here

Disappointing products #1

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

As a beauty blogger I tend to try quite a lot of products, every now and then I try a product that just doesn't live up to the hype surrounding them. The Garnier micellar water is a prime example of this. When this first came out there was HUGE hype around it saying it was the closest thing to bioderma you could get. I have super sensitive skin and literally anything will make it rear up and go totally mental. I thought because this is marketed towards the sensitive skin market it would be a safe bet for me. Turned out I was wrong, it broke my skin out which made me really sad because I really wanted to like but I just couldn't.

Another Disappointing product for me was the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on shadow pencil. I've never tried an urban decay product that I haven't liked on some level. Whenever I try and use this I find it very hard to get any colour pay off from at all. They're not very smooth at all, and are very hard to work with.

This Wet N Wild fastdrying nail polish in the shade Grays Anatomy . In the bottle this shade looks like a gorgeous oil spill/petrol colour. I found that it didn't dry fast at all and it chipped like no other nail polish I've tried. I would have it on and within an hour it would be significantly chipped.

Have you tried any of these?

Review | Seventeen Makeup Brushes

Saturday, 17 January 2015

For christmas I received this brush set from 17 from my friend Ava. I have to say the quality of the brushes really did surprise me. They're quite sturdy to hold and feel like they're very high quality. My favourite brush out of the set is probably the brush labelled 'Cheeks'. Its really dense and is great for contour. It gives you a really nice chiselled look without being to harsh as it sort of blends as you apply product. I would also be really nice to apply cream blush too. The eye brushes are great also, they all apply colour really nicely and blend really well. I've used they so many times and I've had no fall out from them at all.

I'm pretty sure these were a set made just for christmas, so if you see them in the boots sale I would definitely recommend picking them up!

Have you tried these? What do you think?
