A Haul

Saturday, 31 January 2015

Since my birthday was not to long ago I had a little bit of money to spend so of course I spent most of it on makeup. The first thing I bought was the Sleek Brow Kit in the shade Dark. Believe it or not this is actually the second lightest shade in the range. Even though I am a blonde I do have quite dark brows, I'm always in the market for something new so I decided why not! I also got the Sleek 'Au Natural' EyeShadow Palette. This is a fab neutrals palette. It has some really gorgeous colours and I used it on a night out last week and I have to say I really loved it. I got the Seventeen Instant Glow Bricks in the shade 'Gold Bronze'. I bought this because I really wanted something that would give me a nice glowy bronze look without making me look like a disco ball. This definitely follows through with that. The final item that I got was this Crescent moon chocker from lolobunnydesigns on etsy. I LOVE this I wanted a choker like this forever, and its so inexpensive at €4.71 you really can't go wrong.

Disappointing products #1

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

As a beauty blogger I tend to try quite a lot of products, every now and then I try a product that just doesn't live up to the hype surrounding them. The Garnier micellar water is a prime example of this. When this first came out there was HUGE hype around it saying it was the closest thing to bioderma you could get. I have super sensitive skin and literally anything will make it rear up and go totally mental. I thought because this is marketed towards the sensitive skin market it would be a safe bet for me. Turned out I was wrong, it broke my skin out which made me really sad because I really wanted to like but I just couldn't.

Another Disappointing product for me was the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on shadow pencil. I've never tried an urban decay product that I haven't liked on some level. Whenever I try and use this I find it very hard to get any colour pay off from at all. They're not very smooth at all, and are very hard to work with.

This Wet N Wild fastdrying nail polish in the shade Grays Anatomy . In the bottle this shade looks like a gorgeous oil spill/petrol colour. I found that it didn't dry fast at all and it chipped like no other nail polish I've tried. I would have it on and within an hour it would be significantly chipped.

What I've Been Reading Lately

Saturday, 24 January 2015

Recently I've been trying to get back into reading because I used to read a lot when I was younger but just don't get the time to do it anymore. I found How To Get Rich Blogging by Zoe Griffin. I really liked this, contrary to what the name would lead you to believe it does not glorify blogging as a 'get rich quick' type of thing. It gives some really good tips and tricks on how to start and maintain a successful blog. Some of the stuff in it is quite basic, like setting up twitter and Facebook accounts but there are some really helpful tips in relation to PR and how to market your blog. It also has specialised sections depending on what your blog is about. I actually found this really helpful and its great to look at your blog as a business. Another book I've liked recently is Beauty by Louise Mensch. I read this on my holidays in june last year and it was so good I loaned it to a friend and I've only just gotten it back now. I skimmed back through it and I forgot how good it was. It follows the life of Dina Kane and how she works in the beauty industry with a really interesting mob background to it. Us beauty bloggers even get an honourable mention in there too. I'd really reccomened it if you wanted something for a bit of light reading and you had an interest in beauty.

Style Steal | Sofia Vergara

Wednesday, 21 January 2015

Since spring is approaching I thought it would be good to do a slightly more spring inspired style steal. I'm aware most people go all out with pastels and such for spring, but thats just not me. I tend to like an easter egg if I do that, which really isn't a good look to be honest. This is also a lot more geared towards the irish spring, which really isn't really that much different from irish winter. I've been really wanting a pair of boyfriend jeans for a while now and i'm currently between these from pull and bear and a pair from river island. I have this H&M t-shirt and I love love love it. It's very soft and slouchy and a great addition to anyones wardrobe. These chunky heels are completely fab!

What are you're wardrobe staples for spring?

Review | Seventeen Makeup Brushes

Saturday, 17 January 2015

For christmas I received this brush set from 17 from my friend Ava. I have to say the quality of the brushes really did surprise me. They're quite sturdy to hold and feel like they're very high quality. My favourite brush out of the set is probably the brush labelled 'Cheeks'. Its really dense and is great for contour. It gives you a really nice chiselled look without being to harsh as it sort of blends as you apply product. I would also be really nice to apply cream blush too. The eye brushes are great also, they all apply colour really nicely and blend really well. I've used they so many times and I've had no fall out from them at all.

I'm pretty sure these were a set made just for christmas, so if you see them in the boots sale I would definitely recommend picking them up!

Have you tried these? What do you think?

Whats on my iPhone 5S

Wednesday, 14 January 2015

For christmas I got the iPhone 5s. Its white and gold and so pretty! I just can't get over it. My case is from river island, it did have a logo on it but I took it off as it was really bulky and kind of gaudy. Also shoutout to Michael Clifford from 5sos who is my screensaver.

Obviously I have all the social media apps like Twitter (@Missemmalouise9 if you fancy following me), Facebook, tumblr, Viber and Instagram (@missemmalouise12) . I'm addicted to all of them so you should definitely follow me.

Then I have my photography apps like,Square ready which I use for putting a white background on instagram photos, VSCO cam which is free and has some great filters. My last editing app is twin collage which I use to get mirrored photos. I use the app characters to get all special little ying yangs and crescent moons if you ever need them.

Another App I love is weheartit. Its great for getting cute quotes or inspiration for posts, and also for finding a great screensaver.

I have spotify and itube as my two music apps. Since i've gotten itube back I haven't used spottily as much as I feel like after the free trail €10 a month is a bit pricy for music. It's more expensive than my netflix and i wouldn't use it half as often.

As for games I have fruit pop and knowledge crack. Fruit pop is brilliantly addictive, its sort of like candy crush except you play if for a high score and not to pass levels. Its so frickin addictive, download it and you'll know what I mean.

The last app I have is iTunes U. This is such a cool app, It lets you hear college lectures for free, it has lectures in every type you could ever want. I'm currently listening to a 'How to start your own business' course from Stanford University. I think its pretty cool.

Have you tried any of these? What would you recommend?

Review | Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

Saturday, 10 January 2015

Recently I reviewed the Urban Decay On The Run Palette and found I really loved the 'Perversion' mascara it came with. On first impressions the packaging is really nice and sleek. When you take out the brush from the tube you'll see its quite a big plastic wand. I really didn't think I would like this mascara from just looking at it because I thought it would give me quite thick clumpy lashes which isn't something I like. I prefer my lashes to be nice and long but very separated.

When I first used this I was pleasantly surprised. It makes my lashes very long and thick but also very separated. Naturally I have quite long lashes but this brings them to a whole other level. My mam liked the look of it on me so much she went and bought it for herself. However, she did love the look it gave her lashes but it did run a little on her. So that might be something to bear in mind if you're prone to that.

It's definitely my new favourite mascara and is a staple in my makeup routine. Once my small size runs out I'll definitely be buying the full size.

Have you tried it? Did you like it?

17 Things I Learned By 17

Wednesday, 7 January 2015

This post is inspired by a post I saw on tumblr and really liked the concept of. Since I turn 17 today, I thought why not give it a go.

1. Try new things, Even if you think you won't like it. You won't know if you don't try.

2. You don't have to have everything in your life figured out straightaway. You're young you've got your entire life to figure it out.

3. Not everything will work out exactly the way you expect it to. Its like that perks of being a wallflower quote 'Things change, friends leave and life doesn't stop for anyone'. But thats okay because they almost always end up better.

4. Don't feel bad because you don't have exactly what everyone else has. Whether it applies to guys or just life in general, don't feel like you have to have what everyone else does just to fit in.

5. Its okay to want to spend time alone. Watch some Tv, read a book or go for a run. Alone time is healthy.

6. You don't always have to be the best or the most popular. There will almost always be someone better, smarter, prettier etc, so its easier just to except it and be happy with you.

7. Don't be embarrassed by the music you like. Just because you don't like what everyone else listens to doesn't mean its bad. If you want to blast some ABBA or Destiny's child you do it and don't regret it for a second.

8. Dress how you want to dress. What does it matter if its not the latest trend, if it makes you feel good and you're confident why not?

9. Educate yourself. Become less ignorant to the ways of the world.

10. Travel a lot. Its fun and one of the best experiences.

11. Be patient. Not everything happens instantly, somethings are worth waiting for.

12. Wake up early and watch a sunrise, its worth it.

13. Tell people how you feel, it will be terrifying. You're better off telling them and getting it off you're chest, if you don't tell them how will you ever know?

14. People are mean. They'll talk, spread rumours, not all of them will be true. Learn from it, move on.

15. You're only young once, enjoy it. Don't waste it longing to be older.

16. Don't keep toxic friends in your life. You're worth more than that. If they don't better you as a person and they have a negative effect on your life why keep them around?

17. Do what you want to do and don't apologise for it. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, what excuse is there?

Style Steal: Ashley Benson

Saturday, 3 January 2015

I've loved Ashley Benson's style ever since pretty little liars started. Even outside of the show she has great style. I love this outfits, its definitely something I would wear. I've been meaning to pick up a pair of leggings similar to these because they make any outfit look really put together but they're really simple and easy to wear. Everyone should have at least one plaid shirt in my opinion. I'm not going to say how many I have, because most people would think its way too many. I think it works really well with the leggings and even though its an outfit you can just throw together really easily
